Energy and Spatial Planning \u2013 A Practical Guide for Planners<\/span><\/p>\n

The SPECIAL (Spatial Planning for Energy in Communities of All Landscapes) project, funded by Intelligent Energy Europe, was a three year project running from March 2013 to March 2016 on integrating spatial planning and energy with eight project partners. Lead partner was the Town and Country Planning Association (TPCA) in the United Kingdom. The other seven partners were all public or private planning institutes from Austria, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy and Sweden, working to improve the competencies of planners in delivering renewable energy at the local level.<\/span><\/p>\n

The SPECIAL project co-operated with the ECTP-CEU to produce a practical guide on energy and spatial planning: Spatial Planning & Energy \u2013 A guide for planners<\/em>. The ECTP-CEU with its unique and powerful network of spatial planners\u2019 organisations across at that time 22 European countries could add its precious expertise and experience and contributed producing a guide which helps planners across Europe in their work.<\/span><\/p>\n

SPECIAL Project Expert Papers<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Part of the legacy of the SPECIAL Project is a series of six expert papers written by six different partners in the project. Five of these papers are already available as downloads. Ranging in topics from master planning and energy, to policy frameworks and transport, the papers are primarily targeted at town planners working at the local level.<\/span><\/p>\n
