la M\u00e9tropole Europ\u00e9enne de Lille, le 3 Mars 2017 \u00e0 Lille.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a Press Conference on October 6 2017, Mr Carl Devlies, Schepen van financi\u00ebn en ruimtelijke ordening of City of Leuven signs the&nbsp;European Charter on Participatory Democracy in Spatial Planning Processes<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ectp-ceu.eu\/images\/stories\/Event-pics\/_MG_4859_1.jpg\" alt=\" MG 4859 1\" width=\"450\" height=\"675\"><br><em>Mr Carl Devlies, Schepen van financi\u00ebn en ruimtelijke ordening of City of Leuven and Mr Joris Scheers, President ECTP-CEU<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 1st, 2018, in Gent, Mrs Martine Verhoeve, Gedeputeerde ruimtelijke planning Provincie Oost-Vlaanderen signs the European Charter on Participatory Democracy with Joris Scheers, ECTP-CEU Secretary General and invites all municipalities from the Region to follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Province of East Flanders is the first province to sign the charter and wants to give a clear signal to its partners and to all East Flemish people.Mrs Verhoeve wants to emphasize that participation is becoming the norm, because drawing up plans without at least listening to those involved is no longer possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To reinforce the message, the Province calls on all East Flemish cities, municipalities and intermunicipal authorities to follow its example.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ectp-ceu.eu\/images\/stories\/article-images\/Provincie-OV.jpg\" alt=\"Provincie OV\" width=\"650\" height=\"434\"><br><em>Mrs Martine Verhoeve, Gedeputeerde ruimtelijke planning Provincie Oost-Vlaanderen and Mr Joris Scheers, Secretary General ECTP-CEU<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the 3rd of October, 2018, in Gent the 3 municipalities of Deinze, Herzele and Sint-Niklaas signed the European Charter on Participatory Democracy published by the ECTP-CEU.<br>Mrs Martine Verhoeve, deputy of spatial planning of the Province of East Flanders already signed the document on March 1st 2018, calling on other East Flemish authorities to do the same.<br>The Province is pleased these three East Flemish authorities have also embedded the practice of civil participation into their policy.
