Moving from denunciation to … enunciation

An international organisation for construction, urban planning and the environment, which brings together professionals in the “act of building”, COBATY International aims to promote exchange rather than confrontation.

The grouping within it of professions as diverse as those of architects, lawyers, financiers, engineers, entrepreneurs, materials manufacturers, surveyors but also representatives of the public sector or the mixed economy, allows for a permanent exchange between these professionals and, through a privileged dialogue with public authorities, the implementation of an approach aimed at improving the “living environment”.

COBATY International claims its independence and asserts itself as an apolitical, non-corporatist and non-denominational organization, basing all its actions on the defence of the general interest.

We are indeed convinced that without the effective participation of the citizen, it is absolutely illusory to engage in a “sustainable development” approach. We affirm that the “construction stakeholders”, the women and men members of COBATY International, through the diversity of their professions and therefore through their complementary ways of approaching and resolving problems, are those who, as a priority, can and must serve as a link between the citizen and the decision-maker, whether the latter is at local, national or European level.

The complementarity and transversality of professions linked to the city, which COBATY International brings together in a space of professional neutrality, combined with the capacity of the “Men of art” to translate both individual and collective expectations, allows us as cobatysts to seek out constants and to be part of this dynamic aimed at creating an educational approach to the “sustainable city” which today focuses all expectations.

In an urban world, whose trends are still oriented towards more urbanisation, the “Man of Art” has the power to create, through his positioning between the elected representative and the citizen, this space of neutrality likely to promote dialogue and understanding between these two major actors of the city. His belonging to civil society, his particular expertise in areas essential to the development of “living together” — expression of the social bond desired by all — must be accompanied by an “ethic”, capable of bringing confidence to all the interlocutors and gaining their support.

We all claim together this specificity which makes the cobatyst bring to the debates of the moment, relevant to the themes concerning his sphere of activities, the singularity of his perspective born from the confrontation of his ideas with those of others in the framework of crossed, friendly and peaceful exchanges.

It is through this approach specific to cobatysts, combining skills, voluntary commitment, interprofessionalism leading to multidisciplinarity, honesty of words, that we attempt to contribute to proposing solutions acceptable to and for the greatest number.

It is this approach specific to cobatysts which gives content and meaning to this expression “expert and responsible civil society” of which we claim to be a representative actor.

COBATY International wishes, through the affirmation of its values and the exemplary nature of its actions, to develop its presence, particularly within the European Union and the Mediterranean basin, through partnerships with individuals or legal entities that share the same ethical values and action objectives.
